Performance
Flutter compiles to native ARM code, which gives it a slight edge in raw rendering performance — animations feel buttery smooth out of the box. React Native uses a JavaScript bridge (or the new Fabric architecture with JSI), which is fast enough for 95% of apps but can stutter on complex list views or heavy animations. For most business apps, both are indistinguishable to end users.
Developer Ecosystem & Hiring in India
React Native wins here, especially in Delhi NCR, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. JavaScript developers are abundant, and many can transition to React Native within weeks. Flutter developers are growing but still harder to find, and senior Flutter engineers command a premium. If you plan to scale a team, React Native gives you a larger hiring pool.
Long-Term Maintenance
React Native's dependency on third-party libraries can be painful — a breaking change in React 19 might cascade through your navigation, state management, and native modules. Flutter's first-party widget library means fewer external dependencies and more predictable upgrades. If you want a “set and forget” app, Flutter has an edge.
When We Recommend Each
- React Native — when you already have a web app in React, need to share code, want faster hiring, or are building a content-driven app
- Flutter — when pixel-perfect custom UI is critical, you need complex animations, or you want maximum consistency across platforms
